Jerry Barron's Corner

UPDATED: July 21st, 2020

I have only drawn 2 hunts so far this year. One for where I believe to be the best antelope tag in Oregon, and one for where I believe is the best elk tag in Utah. If I had not saved points, I would be stuck with general season tags. If you want great hunts, you will get more of them if you save points. This reminder is appropriate at the time, because the points application window is open in Montana and Wyoming.

Big Game Draws – Not many left
Texas applications for antelope and alligator are due by August 1st.
There are pronghorn opportunities for both private land, and public land. There are alligator applications for hunts in several locations, depending on how you want to hunt and how big a gator you want to try for.
This is the first of multiple categories that Texas offers. Application dates are due the first and fifteenth of August, September, and October. Application are only $3.00 or $10.00 depending on the hunt. You can apply for multiple hunts in each category. Texas does a good job with information. Many of the areas list the success rate, and the number of applicants that applied last year.

Montana applications for points are due by September 30th
Wyoming applications for points are due by October 31st
