Jerry Barron's Corner

UPDATED: October 6, 2023
Those of you that missed the Sporting Clay shoot missed a very enjoyable event. None of us came close to John Belknap in number of birds busted, but it was a good event for the rest of us anyway. Rumor is “We may do that again.”

Big Game Draws

Texas application deadlines coming up.
October 15th
Exotic applications are available for hunts from for many location including hunts on the NWR areas way down South for Nilgai. Some hunts list success percentage, so check as some are pretty good and others are ones to pass.
November 1

Feral hogs --- Texas is covered up with them.

Guided Bighorn Sheep --- Texas has a lot of Desert bighorns. Two chances are available for those of us with limited cash. One is this draw. Another is available in the raffle.

Guided Gemsbok --- It is a lot closer than Africa, and you get the meat. If you have been to Africa, you have had meals with Gemsbok prepared some way, and I bet you liked it.
Guided Scimitar Horned Oryx --- Same area as the Gemsbok. They feed you. They house you. They show you the animals. They dress, load and hang the kill.

Wyoming application for points are due Oct 31.
Wyoming has a lot of private land, and it is easy to draw some tags in those areas, so purchasing points makes sense if you want better hunts.
